I always wonder how much the intent behind the songs are changed when they're translated into other languages. I'm sure that the exact rhyming words we use in English don't translate to exact rhyming words in other languages.
Entirely depends on the song and the languages involved, I expect. Sometimes it's very similar. From what little German I still possess, there doesn't seem to be hardly any significant change for Under The Sea.
Sometimes they just plain go for the intent and work around the translated to language. Sometimes they just steal the song and change the intent almost entirely.
Keeping with the sea theme, this is the first that springs to mind, the old Sinatra classic, that is also still widely used in advertising.
Was originally the French song Le Mer:
Still about the sea, but just about coming home, I believe.
