i hate anti-smoking commercials
Feb. 12th, 2001 05:40 pmthe propaganda-esque truth.com commercials were tolerable, aside from the fact that they smack of "if you don't eat your vegetables you're going to hell" mentality, they amused me somewhat
but old lady and parrot commercials?
"smoking kills,
that's a fact"
who cares if the goddamn parrot dies?
it's an automated puppet anyhow
and that statement is rather vague, smoking kills whatnow? and who says it's a fact that smoking kills this undefined thing?
at least they're not showing the cigarets raining out of the sky onto the playground one, that's like showing candy raining out of the sky advertising jenny craig

Date: 2001-02-12 06:34 pm (UTC)Silly me, I had always thought my grandfather died of smoking. It was lung cancer, and he could have got that from drinking coffee, playing bridge, or some dirty toilet seat. And anyway, he was sixty. Though he was healthy and lived an adequate life, who wants to live when they're sixty??? He was also a chain smoker! Why should society, you know you and I who have the will power/ intelligence/good judgement be prevented from enjoying our free will/ life's pleasures because of some drug addict who just couldn't stop.
Thanks Eris, it made me laugh a whole lot, "may cause cancer and anal bleeding" heh heh
