Jun. 18th, 2010 01:57 amIt has been an odd week. As you may or may not know (we didn't really tell many people)
Josh's company's contract is expiring. He works for a company that provides the help desk for the sales reps of a Major Pharmaceutical Company (hereafter referred to as MPC). Well, MPC decided to outsource their helpdesk to ... Malaysia or something, I cannot recall at this moment and Josh is slightly out of yell range. And when this was announced they said that the contract would be terminating in May 2010.
A few months before that, they announced they'd run into a lot of unexpected problems in the setting up of the new call center overseas and so the contract was extended through December 2010. This was good news but still, JoshJob had expiry date.
So, out of the blue this week someone at his workplace gets a call (on Tuesday) from a company that holds the business accounts tech support contract for a Major Internet Provider (hereafter blahblahblah MIP), offering her an interview for one of 10 positions open there. She was not interested as she does not intend to stay in the tech field once the contract with MPC has run out. HOWEVER she told the recruiter about Josh and asked if they'd be interested in him, they were, she put him in contact with them, the offered him an interview on Thursday.
Which was TODAY, or rather yesterday now. It was a super short interview and they offered him the job right away. IT STARTS MONDAY, it's a pay rise and a permanent position. He almost didn't take the interview because they did inform him that it was starting right away, and he's been at current work for nearly 2 years now, but he talked to boss and they understand and are not upset with him not giving notice, and that he's re-hireable if they end up keeping the contract or getting a different/better contract later.
On to the bullets.

On to the bullets.
- So, my sleep has been all over the place since Tuesday. I wasn't really nervous for him, it really did sound like a sure thing. But still. He was sweet and did call me right after to tell me he'd got it. And in celebration I bought him/us delivery foods for dinner!
- He did not, yet, find out when he gets paid. So we have a silly bet going in which I'm guessing he'll be paid the 1st and the 15th, and he is guessing every other week. His current (last day is Friday!) job pays weekly, which has been awesomely convenient, so whatever it is will be an adjustment. Oh, the loser has to buy the winner a toy or toys worth $60.
- My crafts table has yet to produce anything of note, but I have de-constructed several things, they just have not re-constructed into anything useful yet. So far, just more mess, but using a seam ripper is EVER SO MUCH FUN.
- I dyed my eyebrows. With a little bit of the black dye. I don't think anyone will notice but me since my eyebrows were already dark brown, but I'm pleased. It stung a little until I put conditioner on them later.
- Hiding the less happy news down here in the bullets. The fatherperson is in hospital. His heartrate went wildly irregular so he was good and had wife take him straight to hospital. They think it's just because he took himself off the AtenoLOL several months ago. They've got him on IV and meds and keeping him for observation. They're probably going to shock him before letting him to go force a regular sinus rhythm. He's been the one calling me with updates, so I think that's a good sign. I don't think there's anything serious to worry about, but he is my daddy, so iWorry.
- I have decided that I am old enough to begin employing the unnecessary THE before proper nouns and such. Like The Livejournal, The facebook, The computermachine, etc. Josh does not agree that I am old enough for this yet, and is not nearly as amused.
- I am enjoying pizza more often post-surgery than I did pre-surgery. The Leslie and I apparently determined that my tonsils were blocking my pizza chakras. In seriousness I have no idea, pizza made me feel like absolute crap after, before tonsils out, and I was pretty much only eating it while drunk. But I've now willingly had it twice since with no stomach upset, so, who knows. It's still far from my favourite food, but I'm happy to be able to enjoy it again occasionally.
- I smoked a cigarette today. For the first time since ... I think since a drunk with
LoopyLady. It was ever so lovely, I didn't cough to death or die. But I will not be repeating it any time soon.
- I always forget what I mean to say when I get around to posting these entries.
- Random pictures collected on the internets will follow.
