Enforced romance!
Feb. 12th, 2010 01:20 pmThat greeting card holiday swiftly approaches!
As with nearly every holiday these days, it seems I become less and less bothered about missing out. When I was younger I used to make a lot of noise about what a pointless and offensive holiday it is. And I mostly only said that out of annoyance when alone on the day, or when disappointed on the day. These days I'm less offended by it but less bothered. I guess more offended by the people who anxious themselves silly about the assumed importance of the thing.
Of course if someone offered me a fabulous dinner or something on vday I wouldn't refuse. But I don't need any extra proof that people care about me. The mere fact that they've stuck around and still want to spend time with me despite all my baggage is quite proof enough.
