Let's do have a ramble, shall we?
I had a rather interesting recent visit to the UMC pharmacy, in which the lines were crazylong and more filled with loud ungrateful bitchers than usual. I was quoted 2-2 1/2 hours, and they filled it in an hour, but when I picked it up there was a mix up with one medication, which they told me would be another hour to fix, but it took them lessa 10 minutes to do so. The pharmacists have been a fuckton happier and friendlier my last few visits, which leads me to believe they're becoming much more organised at least in the backoffice doings, hence less stress on them.

Weirdly, though I'm sure it's a coincidence and not at all a conspiracy, I noticed that the more polite customers were getting their scripts filled much faster than the loud bitchers, for identical meds in some cases. There was one dude I was talking to who was there quite a while before me, and still waiting when I left. He was one of the louder complainers. Which was sad because he seemed really nice otherwise and he was pretty good looking. Part of me thinks I should have talked to him more, but the other part is pretty sure that if he's so impatient and bitchy about such a simple situation, that would indicate quite a slew of other things we'd seriously disagree on.

Recently, I was complaining to that Spanky guy about a lack of good shows around this time of year, and he recommended The IT Crowd. So I located and watched that. I recognised Moss (Richard Ayoadale) from Garth Marenghi's Darkplace. It's a very fun show and it's still going, so I'm quite looking forward to its fourth series. Apparently they attempted an American version which never got off the ground, with the same Moss, but Joel McHale playing Roy. I'm rather glad that went nowhere. I like McHale quite fine on community, I don't think I would have liked him as Roy.

So when I'd watched all of The IT Crowd to date I went looking for information about what else the actors/writers had done. I discovered that several people associated with IT Crowd were also involved in The Might Boosh TV series. I'd been meaning to check out this Boosh business for a while, so I went ahead and gave that a go. I didn't care too much for the first series, the whole set in a zoo business wasn't terribly funny, but it was entertaining enough that I kept watching. I'm glad I did cause series 2 and 3 were much funnier, and I realised I had seen a few episodes before, specifically the episode with Old Gregg. Really the main thing that convinced me to keep watching was the fact that Noel Fielding played the goofy goth who lived in the closet for a bit on The IT Crowd, so I knew he had more of a funny range than he was showing in the first series of Boosh, he pretty much just annoyed me in the first series. Stupid zoo.

Further actors and writers in common led me to stumble upon Black Books next. Which is basically the exact same idea as The IT Crowd, just in a book shop, and the Irish character is considerably more drunk and surly. I enjoyed it quite a lot, and was sad that only the three short series exist of it. It is apparently set in the same Universe as Spaced, which is nifty. However, watching Black books I was sure I knew Fran (Tasmin Greig) from somewhere, so of course after I finished watching that show, I looked to see what else she'd been in.

And REstumbled back upon Green Wing. I'd watched the first few episodes prior, on hulu.com and didn't get into it. It's just really really ridiculous. But after all this prior britcom watching, decided to give it another go. I think the first time I just wasn't prepared for such a ridiculous show, so, second go round I managed to watch it all and was very entertained. Although the ending was strange and I didn't really care for it. My favourite character in it was the ridiculous Sue White (Michelle Gomez), a completely batshit insane Scottish staff liason. Really really really batshit insane, but she does it all with a completely straight face that just killed me every time. For example, a few times she's randomly wearing a squirrel head and tail, once she has ridiculously long arms, and once she's just randomly riding a camel through the hospital, which they never ever explain.
And now my regular US shows have either started back up or started new seasons, so back to this side of the pond, TV wise. Until Doctor Who and Torchwood start back up at least. As for shows closer to home, I've absolutely loved the second season of Dollhouse so far. First season I was just entertained, but not at all upset when I learned it was canceled, but this second season has been brilliant, and now I'm sad. However, they do seem to have been aware of it in the writing, and it seems as though they're going to wrap up the story rather nicely, so, it's not like it's going to be canceled with story dangling.
Also, during the TV lull, I noticed that ToeJam & Earl was a featured article recently on Wikipedia, and I remembered I really enjoyed that game, hadn't thought about it in a while. So I acquired a sega emulator, and it, and have played through it a few times now, and it seriously was just as fun as I remembered it.

And lastly a thing which has no pictures to illustrate ... YET. Since we've lived here (a year now!), I haven't had any place to put my sewing machine, so it's lived on a shelf in my closet, nor a place for my beading stuff, so it lives all over the dining table and the coffee table, which bothers the Joshperson, and also myself. A few weeks back mother emailed me asking if I'd like a large 3x6foot desk. I found the large metal yard stick, did some measuring around in my room, decided where it should go, and replied to her that yes, yes I would very much like this desk!
However, when they went to move it, they discovered that one of its legs was broken, but fixable. So it's apparently been sitting in her living room, half fixed, ever since the first attempt to bring it to me. But hopefully soon it shall be mine. I am looking forward to having all my crafty stuff in one area. Also it has two large file drawers in, so I'll also have a place to keep paperwork and such. YAY! I am excited about it eventually being here.
