Our couches, let me show you them.

That is J's desk flopped on its side in the middle of the room. He had not prepared his room to receive desk yet, so it's still out there for the moment. The red stuff is the tape over the drawers. It's a nice solid beast of a thing and will take plenty of abuse no problem. That bottom drawer is a file cabinet drawer, he's going to snag a bunch of the hangy file guys from work and we'll finally have a good place to keep all our important papers.

It was more of a day than I was prepared for, so after the couch doings and dinner gettings were done, I passed out DED until now.

Our original plans for retrieving the couches and desk today (it's still Thursday to me) fell through, and as we only had 24 hours from the time of purchase (afternoon of the 31st) to collect them before they put them back out on the floor for sale and only refunded us store credit, I was more than a little stressing about losing our couches. But the always awesome [livejournal.com profile] jloopy and her little truck and her dude came through like gangbusters for us. Totally my heroes, I'm so many kinds of excited about having living room furniture I can't even express myself. I just kept muttering "yaycouches" all day. And every time I go out to the living room I pet the small one as I pass.

The store had a 25% off all furniture on the 31st, which took their already ridiculously low prices down to $112 and change for BOTH couches, and $8.42 for the desk. Each couch has one gimpy leg, appears the originals fell off, the little screw nubs are still there and looks like the previous owners attempted to replace them with some sort of unstable peg things. So if you bump either too hard, they'll fall right off their pegleg. ARR! They're both very clean, no apparent wear or damage on either aside from their gimpy legs, nearly perfect condition.

That Goodwill (SOUTHWEST CORNER OF TROPICANA AND PECOS, NEXT TO SUNRISE MARKET, ACROSS FROM TROPICANA CINEMAS) always has a great selection of furniture, though you have to act fast to grab it before someone else does. They had an amazing vintage rolltop desk that I had drooled at before and Loopy fondled for a while while we were there. Also a huge vintage dresser that I really (reallreally) wanted.

Of course the boys wanted the giant air hockey table, and the hugegiant TV (that there's a picture of J hugging, in my Facebook).

A very fabulous start to 2009, if I do say so, myself.
