Participating in the process.

So ... I think I accidentally participated in part of the process that I didn't intend, exit polling.
If you haven't noticed I'm rather fond of my right to keep my voting choices to myself, I think all of 5 people know who I'm voting for, and only one of which is an online only friend. So, even though I enjoy following the pre-counts, I never intended to contribute to them.
There was a knock on my door, Sunday, which I went to while half-awake. Discovered a very small, very nervous, little campaign worker standing there. She saw I was half awake and firstly apologised for disturbing me, and then said that she's from [my candidate of choice]'s campaign and was I still intending to vote for him? Being half awake I couldn't remember if Tuesday had passed yet (the day I intend to vote) so I just said, "I already voted for [candidate]!" She breathed a huge sigh of relief and wrote something on her clipboard and said "Good, and I'm happy to inform you that you will not be bothered by us for ANYTHING else for the rest of the election. Thank you very much for your vote!"
I did sign an intent to vote thingy at a rally months ago, with all my contact information, and I've not heard a word from them until this. So not a bother, more amusing than anything. I don't know if I just go into their internal numbers of if I've ended up in the statistics. Probably just internal campaign numbers.
So anyway, I'm voting tomorrow.
It will be my first time actually going to a place to vote. I always voted absentee in California because I'd gone to polling places with my parents, as a kid. And was not interested in braving the crowds and lines myself. However Nevada's got the whole early voting thing going on, and I totally missed the primaries, through just plain stupid.
I'm going to be out tomorrow anyway, gotta go get a prescription renewed that snuck up on me, I thought I had another two months before I had to. So I'll stop by the mall on the way back and GET MY VOTE ON!
Which means I have to look up all these local guys and decide which gets my dot.

Date: 2008-10-21 12:46 am (UTC)The convenient thing about the early voting is that you can go to any of them regardless of what precinct you're in.
