WWJD, Seriously.

Hello and welcome to the 3am(ish) babble.
I go through obsessions with things, all sorts of things,
once I ate only turkey jerky and milk for a month.
But more usually it's a topic, something that I must learn everything about,
in recent years it's been other religions.
This sorta started with discovering how much
Seventh-Day Adventist information there is online,
and actually being a little shocked at how many little weird things,
that I'd actually totally forgotten about the church what raised me.
Growing up, we were always compared to Mormons,
it's the extreme fundie (often on compounds) groups both religions have,
and the fact they each have a prophet.
the MOs have Joseph Smith, the SDAs have Ellen White(EGW).
Though apparently, recently, the SDA church has been distancing a bit,
from EGW, possibly to remove Mormon associations?
I had a friend when I worked at MCI, who was a believing but inactive mo,
during the downtimes between calls we had a lot of talks about the similarities.
The more I've been reading about Mormonism this past week,
the more I see some very huge differences 'tween them and SDAs.
Or is that just throwing stones?
"The alleged cult I grew up in is LESS CULTY than yours!"
The grape juice drinking, haystack eating, foot washing, dancingisasin,
doesn't seem as odd to me, since it was normal to my point of view.
It does appear, though that SDA is a lot easier to "recover" from.
We also don't have things like temple garments(sacred undies!) to quit wearing.
Anyhow, in my wandering and reading everything,
I've discovered several accounts in varied places,
that the Mormon church has cut missionaries monthly budgets (again?),
to $130/mo per mishie.
And that some wards and areas have stricter rules about what free food they can accept.
Some places they can't accept dinner invitations (from church members) at all,
some they can but have to be back before 5pm, etc.
I'm sure some areas are better than others and they get more free food.
However, this is a very distressing way to treat one's loyal followers,
so the next time they come a' knocking on my door,
I'm going to attempt to feed them.
I've heard "horror stories" about not being able to be rid of them after letting them in once,
but I'm not concerned, I'm not shy or afraid of NO,
and I've already left one pretty clingy church, and resisted conversion for many years.
I don't think my happy heathen soul is in any danger.
Feed the poor possibly starving Mormon missionary boys in their nice clothes!
Especially in VEGAS, give them a nice, cold, non caffinated drink at least.
Let them have a few moments of your Air Conditioning.
I think it's worth a little possible conversion bother to me to make sure they have something extra to eat that day.
I mean if their church isn't making sure they're eating properly ...
See topic, seriously.
