The aftermath (at least it's over)
May. 5th, 2007 02:49 pm
I woke up to sounds of girlroommate apparently finally moving the rest of her shit out,
I tried to get myself to go out there and ask her to clean her room,
(except for the half I started using for storing boxes a few days ago, natch)
and ask for 5 days of pro-rated rent that she's used us as free storage.
I knew it wouldn't get me anywhere,
I chickened out.
You see, I haven't a leg to stand on,
fat people/messy people/people with bad credit/etc. have no rights,
it's perfectly ok for the self-proclaimed "neat-freaks" to walk all over the messy.
Never mind the fact that this messy me would never leave such things behind,
if I were renting a room and then moving out, I'd leave it how I found it.
Messy people obviously won't notice and won't care,
so it's absolutely justifiable to leave behind mess.
Even if she ever read or any of her friends ever read this,
they'd all be behind her position.
This is how it goes, I understand this.
Doesn't make it any less disappointing.
Before deciding to try to rent the room,
J and I had a long talk and decided we'd have a contract for the next roommate,
because the previous self-proclaimed neat-freak left me a full litter box,
boxes of trash inside boxes, and ... well you can see for yourself
not to mention $2,790 in unpaid rent.
But after talking with and then meeting as she moved in, this last roommate,
we decided it wasn't necessary, and it really mostly wasn't.
She paid her rent all the time, when she made us late she paid her part of the late fees.
She wasn't a terrible roommate, really.
It's just all this weird little left behind crap that I'd never think of doing,
that is perfectly acceptable to someone what thinks they're perfectly clean,
that baffles the shit out of me.
I'm sure the next time she moves she'll leave it sparkling,
it's not ok to be this inconsiderate to neat people, but ok to do to people like us.
We have received our final checklist on our 30 day notice,
and according to the pricing if I just ignore the spare room,
and leave it behind, 5 days after official move out it would cost me,
$10/bag of trash
$32/day over notice
Looks like 3 or 4 bags total in the following pictures? maybe just two big ones?
I was angry for exactly 5 seconds after finding the key out here,
and the door unlocked and all her trash left.
Now I'm just glad it's done with,
chalk it up as another loss and bad decisioning on my part,
and try not to do it again.
First the room, she left behind her crazy painting drying rack,
I have no use for it so I'm just going to have to throw it away,
at least it's not heavy.

Here you see our messy guest bathroom,
yes most of the counter mess is J's, the misfits button is mine.
But those two boxes of hair dye trash have been there forever,
I just kept hoping she'd throw them away.

One thing I make extra sure of when I move,
or even leave a hotel, I don't leave girly things or girly thing wrappers in the trash,
ugh, I'll take it with me out of a hotel and drop in a dumpster.
If *I* were sharing a bathroom with a boy I hardly knew?
They'd never even stay there, I'd put a bag under the sink,
and go take it to the dumpster once a day or so.

Just more for me to do before the end of the month is all,
at least it was the smallest bedroom this time, instead of the largest.
