If you were walking through a desert and there was a big cord with a handle on it hanging out of the sky and you couldn't see a top to it, and it was marked "pull me",
I mean. Okay, I am in a desert. Am I lost? Am I starving? Do I need water? Are vultures circling above? How long have I been walking? If I am walking la te da, full tummy, going to a specific place, fully moisturized and sunblocked, full hydrated, and come across a big cord with nothing more than a PULL ME to persuade me, then NO. I probably would not pull it. However, it really all depends on what mood I am in. If I am heading somewhere I really don't want to go, such as THE DENTIST, then yes, I may say to hell with it and pull the goddamned thing. Different situations affect my choice of pulling or not pulling. This sounds very wiley coyote road runnerish. Were you watching cartoons when you thought this querstion up?
I'd pull it in a heartbeat. Let's face it; if you're wandering around in the desert for God knows how long, life's bound to get a bit dull...pulling the cord is probably the only chance of having anything dramatic happen.
Besides, being in the desert is bound to make a person thirsty. Perhaps pulling the cord will reselt in a few clouds being ripped open and a sudden downpour of rain.
Actually, this whole situation smacks of Alice in Wonderland...

Date: 2000-12-28 01:26 am (UTC)I'd pull it. What the hell was I doing in the desert anyhow? For that matter where did that cord come from?
/me looks up.
/me pulls cord, and me gets ready to jump out of the way to dodge anything that falls and lands on him.
hmmm...
