What's changed in a decade?

Any moment now my father and his wife will be showing up,
Mother and her husband will be a little while in coming.
They got stuck in the dam traffic.

This will be the first time,
in almost exactly 10 years,
that my parents have been in the same room.

They spoke over the phone for the first time in 10 years,
during my birthday week.

I took pictures of peanut holding the giant father's day card,
which I will post later.
I'll also try to get some pictures of my father holding it also.

Mini family reunion.
Should be a thing.

It wasn't nearly as uncomfortable as I expected.
I've lots of memory of them being in the same room, the only divorced when I was 18. It's my brother that's got a whole lot more issues with the whole thing, as he's 5 years my junior.

The most interesting thing was that I was able to see my mother through my father's eyes, and notice all the ways she's different that I hadn't noticed so much as I see her rather frequently.

The spouses mostly kept quiet, Father's wife tried to be helpful, mother's husband just seemed amused at the whole thing. Heh.

Oh Good, I'm glad. I think divorced parents really need to try to handle this better for their kids, even their adult kids. I haven't been anywhere near as cool about this as I would have liked to have been for Beau, but it's not my fault, Robby hasn't made this possible. It was good to be able to do this for him for his graduation. I think it's so important for parents to be able to come together at least a few times a year for their kids, I really do, it's so important. I'm sorry it's been ten years, but I'm so glad it's happening.
