Wull, that there would be a Shmoo, little lady. A-yup. From the ol' Lil Abner comics, and if'n I recall right they had their very own Saturday morning t and v show back in the 1980s.
I seem to remember them waddling a lot, if not dancing quite that way.
Weirdly, the schmoo in the Lil Abner strips were a metaphor for communism. They were lovable little critters that multiplied voraciously and were completely edible. If you fried one it tasted like ham, if you baked one it tasted like chocolate cake, on and on. Everyone's needs were provided for and no one in Dogpatch had to work anymore. Someone came along and screwed it up, of course, but I can't remember how.
