dr.laura:"how do you know he didn't change his mind at the last min?"
dr.laura:"why didn't he WANT to have every possible min with his son? wasn't that selfish of him?"

and the dude is saying that NO ONE has assisted suicide becuase of pain and/or suffering, just because they don't want to be a burden, the don't REALLY want to die
