i'm on a mission
in a previous entry i babbled a tiny bit about that i need more local friends
and well as i always say, and kal always yells at me about

don't whine, DO something about it

well ok... how DOES one MAKE friends?? i mean really, i don't think this is something i've ever spent huge amounts of time thinking about,

so i thought and i thought, and well one step is to get BACK in contact with the good friends that i have just drifted from, so i emailed one of my bestest friends Grg, and he should be calling me today YAY

but, he's still hours away, not drop over for coffee distance, and my BEST friend nadin, is god knows where, she left without saying goodbye and her computer is in guam, and i suppose she's in texas, she left me no way to contact her :/

ok well, so the initial point was NEW friends, yes? well .. hmmm .. uh, ok the internet, can one make LOCAL friends on the internet? then i thought, hmm livejournal
so i spent two days searching thru CA livejournals looking for interesting people, i added a couple people to my friends list (see friends! i did it, *snicker* ok well not really) one step i suppose, one girl i added that's fairly close is a girl who calls herself starjunkie i added her to friends list, and fully intended to email her

why haven't i yet?
*snork* ask Cyd and giggle about random eris emails, i'm a fuckin spazz, and i get really confused with introduction emails, what should i say about myself? i feel like i have to sell myself and that's silly
and i'm pretty sure *i'd* ignore an email that goes like this:

Hi, my name is eris, will you be my friend?

*wild giggles* ok now i'm being silly, i should write to her, yeah i probably will

now? nah, now i'm waiting for phone call from GRG! Grg The Defender of the Naked and Confused!!

New Friends

I am supposed to find a guy friend to do guy stuff with. Sigh! Once upon a time I had tons of guy friends and wondered if I would ever have a girl friend. Now I am many years married and finding a guy friend seems a daunting task. I think at this point it would be easier to find a truck load of girl friends and/or potential spouses, BUT not a guy friend anywhere.

I know what you mean. I moved out to LA last october...leaving my family and friends behind to be with my bf. i still have no friends.. unless you count a few from work.. but we have never gone out and done anything outside of work.
Sometimes I miss having someone go shopping with or to the movies or beach or just hanging out with.
It is hard to make new friends tho. Its not like I can say.."okay, going out tonight to make new friends.. bbl" Friendships just happen.. sometimes unexpectantly.

Hello Neighbor. I was adding a "friend" when I knoticed I had been added to a new friend list. I go through a period every couple of years or so where i move on from the current crowd I am hanging with to new pastures...

What are you interested in? I find joining clubs that are in my field of interest introduces me to alot of new people. Classes at college, ICQ and places like that are often productive too... ya just gotta find a place and go for it... :)

I really know what you mean. Finding people nearby seems to be such a daunting task. In theory it should be easy.... but its not.

I usually end up by myself most of the time and keep to my close knit friends, who basically adobted me....

i guess I'm not really that social.... I'm always the quiet one walking around with his hands in his pockets.....

Hey, but you can count me for a friend if you wish, I don't mind... I could use a few myself.
