http://www.bearshare.com -their client app is a lot more system friendly and solid. i highly recommend it over napster.

the only only suggestions i can make are:
-limit the number of search hosts to 15-20 (there's a little box to enter this number in)
-don't try to download the world all at once; grab like 20-30 megs at a time

we've downloaded tons of stuff, many gigabytes. all sorts of things, not just MP3s...
