Roof-pig! Most unexpected
Dec. 23rd, 2008 01:45 amWell, folks, there you have it. A day in the life of a superhero and his sidekick. It's a very long day, the tights are uncomfortable; I think we covered that before. Map light, convenient and essential. A lot of working of villain motifs. Crime has a Bossa Nova beat. Leap before you look. Remeber denouement. Other French words: inconvenient, nonessential... oh... I could go on and on... But time's a-wasting and evil's out there making hand-crafted mischief for the swap meet of villainy. And you can't strike a good deal with evil. No matter how much you haggle! We don't need to look for a bargain; goodness is cheap because it's free, and free is as cheap as it gets. Cut! What was that pig about?!
Tuesday. One of the only day and a half that J works this week. All the rest are vacation days or paid holidays.
There were, in fact, enough holes on the first piece of the bookcase, just the two I was looking for were only halfway holes on the other side of it, so I'm dumb. So the first bit was done, I'll probably get the rest of it together tomorrow after waking.
Now, I consider myself pretty handy, but figuring out furniture assembly diagrams gives me a better understanding of how sometimes user manuals for computer stuff can frustrate the notso computer savvy. It assumes a certain level of basic understanding. Like if something technical says "Go to the control panel" I'm not lost, but many people would be utterly stumped at that point. It took me a good toomanyminutes of staring at one of the small diagrams to understand "insert the cam lock." Once I figured out how the "cam lock" and whatever its associated screw guy that locks into it is called, worked together, it was ridiculously simple.
In other assembly business, mother gave us one of those small rolly grocery trolleys, that happened to still be brand new in box. Flat. Sans wheels. Sans instructions on how to attach said wheels, and all the washers and pins and springs. However that was much easier than figuring out INSERT THE FUCKING CAM LOCK.
Maybe the bookcase would have made more sense if I hadn't bothered with the instructions.
Whatever, it will be conquered tomorrow, and then will be forced into service of holding my damn books, yessir.

Dec. 23rd, 2008 06:29 pmI've always wanted one of these.
I just now spent several minutes searching trying to find one for sale on a regular site so there's a good link here when craigslist ad goes away. So I'll snag the pictures instead.
I'd keep scotch in it. Yup.
