HEY ERIS LISTEN UP
Jul. 9th, 2003 03:32 pmlesson that i need to learn
i would say for the week, but i don't know if i'll ever learn this one
ok, here goes.......
some people you just cannot help, no matter how much you want to, at some point watching them make their same mistakes over and over or watching them make mistakes you've made is going to become too painful to watch and you'll have to cut your losses and run. or attempt to downgrade association to "acquaintance"
go ahead and care and try to help, but know when it's time to disassociate.
some people don't want to be helped, some people have been doing this all their lives and it has become too comfortable to change no matter how miserable it makes them.
if you aren't sucessful in at least sometimes pulling them out of their rut into your world, they're just going to drag you down into theirs, watch out!
some people will ask for advice, ask for help, they may even say to give it to them straight, pull no punches, not to humor them. and then not mean it, and then turn around and blame everything on you because you were the kid to point it out to them.
run away! you take responsibility for too much crap as it is, don't continue association with someone who feeds into that.
most importantly, until you help yourself you cannot help others.
are you paying attention eris?
HMMMM?
