why taxi-cab drivers never wear seatbelts?

i don't think i've EVER seen a cab driver wearing a seatbelt, and this is CA, with seatbelt laws and everything

They don't wear seatbelts here in Vancouver either.. It's because if someone was to mug them or knife them or try to put a gun to their head they can get out of the car easier than wearing a seatbelt.. At least that is what one of the cab drivers told me:)

i've been wondering that for ages and kept thinking i should ask in lj cause someone probably knew

i'd asume that it's likely not legal in CA but for those reasons cops probably look the other way
