tiny.white.balls.everywhere.HELP.

While at Loopy's I noticed that one of her windows was covered by styrofoam sheets on the inside, this is a brilliant idea that had not occurred to me. I pointed it out to J, and we discussed it, and asked Loopy about it and she told us such things could be gotten at a Home Depot type store.

I'd been intended to make curtains, but they were going to be thick insulately/blackout curtains. For this there are reasons, two.

Reason one being that I'm apparently occasionally a vampire and end up accidentally slaughtering neighbourhood children in my incoherent sunrage when woken by piercing beams of light, from that ridiculous ball of fire in the sky, rampaging through my window and raping my face.

Reason two is somewhat more sane. My window and the two windows in the dining area get very direct sunlight through the hottest bits of the day. So no matter how happily the a/c is chugging along and loudly proclaiming that HEY GUYS, IT'S ONLY 72 DEGREES IN HERE I'M HAPPY TO TELL YOU!*, if you get within 5 feet of one of the aforementioned windows, you burst into flame.

... ok maybe you don't burst into flame, but it's at least 20-30 degrees hotter than the coolest parts of the house in the vicinity of said windows, and I do believe it's making the a/c work harder than it needs to.

So on this lovely Saturday that has somehow inexplicably turned into Sunday while my back was turned, we betook ourselves to the Home Depot and procured large sheets of styrofoam, and a metal ruler, and a sooperdooper box cutter. And then had to, naturally, cut each 4'x8' sheet into fourths to get it into the car, but we were expecting that.

I have now spent far too many hours, with a dinner break, measuring and cutting and measuring and cutting and measuring and cutting, etcetera, and so on, and so forth, ad nauseam.

BUT, my window is now all filthy with its foam force field, as well as the two dining room windows.

After I finished my bedroom, I went outside to have a looksee, and noticed that I could see the blue writing faintly from the inside skin. So I went back in, and eyeballed it, and discovered I could peel that silliness right off.

I am following HOA regs, white window coverings, has I!

To sleep, perhaps to not be woken by sunbeam face rape.

Library Sunday!

I had started to read a book while at Loopy's but only happened to get halfway through due to the truck breaking. As it was a library book I couldn't borrow it, which I noticed but had expected to be able to finish it. Such is life.

So I suggested a library trip to J, and we went off to our close one. Apparently library guards are armed now, and judging by the NO CELL PHONE USE UNDER PENALTY OF DEATH signs, cell phones give libraries cancer maybe, I don't know. So I had to very sneakily look at my fon in order to see the picture I took of the above mentioned book to try to find it.

As the library was undergoing some sort of renovation and also appeared to be about 20 years behind in their putbacks, I failed. I did get two other books by the same author, and I'll get the one I didn't finish, eventually. Also got a King I haven't read, among others.

In styrofoam window news, it's really made a massive difference. I am actually typing this at my desk, next to the window, notice the lack of being on fire? Fabulous!

I mean to cover the inside of the foam in my room with tinfoil, as to make it even darker in here, but so far am really really pleased with the insulating effects. It's also really noticeable in the dining area too, and the whole house feels cooler. So maybe Eddie the air conditioner will be less annoying now that he's not lying quite so much about the temperature.

My brain must consume mass quantities of words on paper now, yes.
